Most hip fracture patients are elderly patients with severe osteoporosis. With the coming of the aging society and the rapidly increased population, the number of hip fracture patients is also rising. The elderly hip fracture patients suffer longer bed lying time, more underlying diseases, higher complications occurrence and higher mortality. Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) has been verified to be an effective measure in peri-operation period. By reducing the stress reaction of operation trauma, reducing complications and decreasing the mortality rate, the patients could achieve the goal of accelerating recovery. This paper discusses the process of application of ERAS to the treatment of hip fracture in the elderly. |
